Transportation

Benalmádena is very accessible. It is only ten kilometers away from Málaga’s Picasso International Airport. It is also reachable by train and highway, and the marina in Benalmádena is being enlarged to accommodate small cruise ships in its harbor.

The Picasso International Airport has direct flights to and from major Spanish and European cities, and numerous charter flights that connect Costa del Sol, and hence Benalmádena, directly with the rest of the world.

From the airport, travelers can get to Benalmádena via train, taxi, or rented car.

The rail system is one that has been highly developed in Málaga. In fact, only a mere four hours separates it from the city of Madrid. The train leaves the airport for Benalmádena every half hour, and the trip takes about 15 minutes. The last stop is the Benalmádena town center station in Arroyo de la Miel. The approximate fare is 1 Euro.

By road, the cheapest mode of transportation has generally been long distance buses. Several bus lines connect Málaga with other European nations, as well as the main Spanish cities. Benalmádena and the Costa del Sol have an extensive road network.

Alternatively, a taxi trip will take about 12 minutes from Picasso International Airport to Benalmádena, and the approximate far is 10 Euro. Travelers who opt to rent a car can take the 4-lane highway to any destination in Benalmádena, which usually takes about 12 minutes. By road, the quickest and most comfortable route is to take the A-IV four-lane highway to Seville until Bailén, and then continue on the road to Jaén and Granada and from there proceed to Málaga and the Costa del Sol.
